Okay so fishkeeping lately isn't going well for me:(....I have another situation in hand. Completely different tank...

I have a 20gallon long, has guppies, danios, corydoras in it. Those are the only three breeds. I have a piece of driftwood, and an anchrias growing on the driftwood, I have had this for a few months never had problems with it.

Today I was looking in my tank and I havea feeding tray, that is a styrofoam box with a hard plastic liner so the food stays contained and doesn't float all over the aquarium. I found these (refer to pics below) beetle like things on it this afternoon. they seemed to be eating the food....

Are they dangerous!?!??! Need to know how to treat if I can or how can I get rid of them. I hope their not harmful!!!:help2:

GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACK!!! OMG OMG OMG!!! That is completely freaky!! I would put them in a plastic bag and freeze them..... til you find out what they are... and yes, looks like Ticks to me.

I was in lfs the other day, and saw something very similar in looks on a goldie there. She ran and got gloves to remove this thing - and told me - THAT"S FISH LICE! The fish it was on, was a black moor, no idea how she didn't see it before i did. I would remove that feeder ring of yours, and take to a lfs - see if they can id those bugs. Maybe they've seen it before?

They do look like water boatmen.:22_yikes: I have them in my pond but their population appears to have been completely blown out by my kribs and angels. It is possible they may have introduced via pond water.

Is it possible to get ticks in the aquarium????

We just did some more research and are thinking it may be some of type of copepod or water flea.....
