I have to agree, while I'm all in favour of an "ethical treatment of animals", unlike the fools in PETA I understand that nature is not some beautiful cohabitation where all the animal holds hands and prance around together. Nature is cruel. Nature is one species trying to dominate the other. Nature is predators and prey, both hoping to develop something to give them the edge over the other. Antibiotics are a perfect example of this, although it's not cute fuzzy animals, antibiotics are a fungus' way of getting the edge on bacteria which grow faster and adapt better - hence antibiotic resistance. The grace of a deer's leaps have nothing to do with a desire to look graceful, but with it's smooth, fluid movements aiding it to escape prey. Yes, there's beauty in nature, but don't think that it's beauty for the sake of beauty, it all has to do with breeding and living to breed.
I wonder if any of these people who protest the seal hunt have actually ever seen a seal. Seals are not that cute, big eyed bambi gracing the pages of your wildlife calendar. They're mean, they're a vicious predator and they're at the top of their particular food chain. The seal hunt is necessary to keep their population at a sustainable level. Yes, it has to do with fisheries too, not cod, as some fishermen would have you believe, that's man's fault, but seals eat fish and we eat fish and it's tough to develop a sustainable fishery if you have an uncontrolled population of piscivores growing unchecked.
Wow did I ever sail off topic, I guess the fishery boycott has me a little :mad2: Curse you humane society and their uninformed actions!
Hey Harlock, when ya gonna update your tank pics!
