Petco's $1.00 per gallon confirmed...

got a 45. it was the only tank left except for some 10's a 20 and a 55. reg price 129.99 paid 45 bucks. not half bad

So...do I need a coupon or anything for this? Or do I just go in and take it to the register? What do I say if it doesn't ring up as $20 (assuming I can get the 20g long tank that I want)?

A caution.
I spent some time after I heard about this doing my homework. If I can get a bare tank without a hood or lights for $1 per gallon, then I buy a retail hood, the total is close to buying the whole thing as a tank with hood at regular prices. The only ones that tempt me now are the 40s. Most stores around me don't usually carry them but my local Petco has brought in 3 to have them "in stock only".
Advice. Don't just grab until you think about total costs.

Most stores around me do not offer packages that I would want... usually its cheaper products, I would want aquaclear or marineland filters, submersible heaters, and such, At least now I have a bear tank, and add the products I want as I can afford them.

It's a great deal if you are willing to shop around for deals on the components(like, ebay, freecycle, sites like that) I now have complete double tank set up, with stand, 2 new all glass tanks(a 20 tall and a 29) plus a 5 1/2 g,(and new hoods)
with all the filters, hoods ammenities, for under 200 bucks which is what I was shooting for.

so, I am happy.:-)

:iagree: I saw a tank hood/light combo 55g for 99.88.. The hood/light can cost more than 45..

If you want/need a tanks with nothing else, rock-on. but they are counting on the add-on sales

My local Petco was counting on me not being able to count. I went in to get 2 40s that I had noticed yesterday. The stores around here don't usually carry them so I had nothing to compare with for price. I chose not to buy anything else at the time so went to check out. At the checkout, they rang up a total of $80 as expected but then the tax looked like I had spent well over $200. The clerk explained that although the tanks were on sale, they were ringing up as normal price minus a coupon after The taxes were applied. The "normal" price was over $200 so I had to pay about 3 times the real state sales tax rate. I was so impressed with their honesty and stright dealing that I left both tanks sitting at the checkout. When I got home I sent off to Petco's main business site and amazingly they have failed to even acknowledge that the message was received.

I got charged tax for the full price also, it didn't click until I saw the previous post, good thing I only got one.
