Is keeping pets right (ethically or otherwise)?

Personally, I have no problem with it, provided the pet is PROPERLY cared for.. Since fish are my favorite, I like to attempt to make biotope tanks and emulate their natural environment as close as possible.

I think if you are a responsible pet owner, it is right. I know my pets are spoiled beyond belief, and that is just the way I am. I don't think that just anyone should have pets however. I believe if you get a pet, you have to make sure it has all that it needs. For example: food, water, shelter, attention, love, & all of the needs that a particular species needs.

yes, in my opinion. I try to hold my standards high tho and offer a relatively good life for the animals.

Since this entire site is devoted to people who are keeping pets I would guess 99.9999% of people on here would be for keeping animals as pets.

heh..you'd be surprised at the hostility this subject has created in the past. I'd like to see an overall opinion of the current user base though.

Yes, I am all for pets...as long as they are well-cared for, and loved.

I'm also all about the biotopes!.....for the fish...I'm not making the cats a biotope....

OK kidding aside.

I am for keeping pets responsibly ...I see only one problem with having some pets. If they are a danger to others, then hell no.

Yes, so long as the animals needs are met and they are provided with the right care, applicable socialization, etc. I dont believe hoarding animals is ethical.
