PetSmart Backroom

For an organazation that is supposed to be so positive oriented, they really are a PITA.

(and by all means, pun intended)

let's get something straight....

PETA wants animals to be free.

They want you to get rid of your pets and have PetSmart close its doors.

According to PETA, you should not be allowed to have fish.

They also want us to be free range vegetarians by outlawing meat consumption.

Now... given all of that do you think think they deserve to be listened to?

but wait. . . if you are one of the unenlightenend people who does keep fish, and your fish gets sick, you should take it to the vet and attempt surgery if needed instead of euthanizing. i'l look for the link. . .

Another outstanding P/R film, with no proof that what they are showing or stating is in any way linked to the title.

PETA.... People Enjoying Tasty Animals

i watched that video and for one have to say that its a load of ****. i personally work at a petsmart and my store has nothing to that extent. i mean we are a petstore, and all petstores have sick animals, and animals that die. but as soon as they are found they are removed. and as far as putting them in the fridge in the back, this is true. and i have asked my manager about this and he says they actually do testing on animals to see why they died, because most small animals that die are ones that just arrive in the store within a few days. they are kept in the back, "new arrival room" for a week and isolated to make sure they are ok. this is where most of them get wettail, and yes, some do die. but with proper treatment they generally survive.
i have heard about this video and this is the first time that i have actually seen it, and i have to say, its sickening, if it were true. i mean there is a understanding in having animals being treated correctly and in a humane matter, but then there are the ***** at PETA that just go one step too far and things like this come out. this is just blown out of proportion and not true.

well, i'm am a farmer and these things are true, i have been to those places where these things happen, what your not seeing is where these animals were breed from, that is where the problem is, chane stores just by the cheapest price for what they can make a profit.
i used to breed rabbits for showing and would sell the culls or unshowables to petstores local ones not pet smart. and they would complane about the price i wanted for them mine were all purebred and most could be registered and very healthy.. they would pay me $5 for dwarfs $10. for mini lops and $10 for jersy woolies, $5 for dutch, and would sell them for $45 to $70 and complained about the price.. then i saw the manager at a local FLEA market and animal auction buying sick little bunnies for .10 @ at the auction. its all about the profit.. not if they are healthy and live.
a local petsmart employee i have befriended told me just what you seen in the video, she is mad as hell, she says they don't care about the animals just how many times you come back to replace you kids dead friend, or feed them if they survive, its a part of this world that isn't going to change when $ rules... there are many very sick and genitically ill pets a smaller stores where i live, and they have the nerve to sell them at over $1000. per pup when and idiot can see its sick as h*ll, all about getting the mighty buck.. i had registered great pyrenees dogs breed them once, the going rate was around $450. to $1000. i sold mine for $200. but all i wanted was real good homes for them, one pup had a liver shunt and had to be put to sleep. so in all fairness to the suffering the little guy went through i never bred them again.. i lost a lot of potential buyers many of them ones that bought the 1st,batch wanted more.. the little spirit that pup had was so great i could never let another pup go thought it again..
here is his pic. RIP little droopy..

SOME FISH NEED UP TO 20 30 40 50 SOME EVEN LARGER. AND THEY HAVE ALL SPECIES IN 5 GALLON OR SOME A LITTLE BIGGER BUT NOT MUCH AND THERE ARE TONS OF FISH IN ALL OF THE TANKS:dive: . I NOTICED TO THERE ARE JUST A LOT OF YOUNGER TEENS WORKING AND THEY DONT KNOW CRAP ABOUT THE SALE SHE WANTS THE MONEY FOR THE STORE.:girl: I JUST WENT IN TO PETSMART TO GET MY PUFFER FISH SOME SNAILS.mind you it was my first time buying then for him but i read that they need certain snails. so i went and she said how long is the puffer he is 1.5 in long and kinda round gsp anyway i told her i needed some snails for him and she gave me regular snail that are the size of his  HEAD. So i came back on here and they say the snails need to be the size of his  EYE NOT HIS HEAD:mad: . so believe it its all anbout the money.:bday:

It's like the propaganda photos that PETA, et al sends out in petitions to stop animal mistreatment in drug tests. You know, the one with the pretty tabby cat with one eye dilated and one eye contricted? Our biology teacher showed us that because of certain muscles in the eye, that same effect can be accomplished by shining a very bright light, probably a laser, into the cat's eye, making it seem constricted and reddish tinted. Put the cat into a dark room, and voila! the other eye dilates...and before I get flamed, no we didn't use a real cat. It was a drawing of a feline eye.

Sad thing is many people in this world 100% believe everything they read or see...and never stand up and question where the information comes from. I just think PETA goes about handling their protests in a very misleading way...what happened to facts? And people just eat it up like free candy. They just sign a check for some $$ and PETA becomes that much richer. I don't know about you, but the claims of some single woman, who looks very disgrundled and is looking for any excuse to have her 15 minutes of "fame", isn't the person I'd be inclined to believe... :mad2:

I do agree they've helped millions of animals get better treatment using scare tactics...but do the PETA-esque activists really think they are doing the animals a favor when they release 10 tropical monkeys/birds/rodents lose in a lab, in Iowa, in December in the name of animal freedom (made up scenario details, but you get my point)? Those animals will just die a quicker death of starvation or end up hurting themselves. They'd probably be surprised at the care animals get at good petshops, breeders, zoos, and circuses. Of course there is always the flip side, bad shops, back-yard breeders looking to make a quick buck on their canine b*tch, and roadside animal attractions. But if you look at modern facilities, with a dedicated staff, living there doesn't seem half bad...

And I can't believe that PETA, et al members don't have/refuse animals as pets. That can be the goal of their little club, but I can bet it's no where near the truth. You can't tell me that everyone of them would rather see Fluffy their Pomeranian lose in the street running with a pack of dogs instead of wearing cute little clothes at the anti-Humane Society rally? Puuuuhhhllleeezzzz. How many of them have a fishtank for Jr.? Or just got a kitten for their daughter's birthday? It's called "Domesticated" for a reason. Some animals adapt well to human society. We provide the best environment possible. Why doesn't PETA, et al turn their eye towards a bigger goal...like providing free or low-cost spay/neuter clinics, raising money for their local no-kill shelters, or raising money for service animals (such as seeing-eye, hearing-ear, and animals used as therapy aids) Put all that clout and $$$ into some sort of good for a change instead of manipulating the public...

I could go on like this for hours...just really gets under my skin. :mad2:

i agree 100%

Petsmart doesn't have *a* back room though - Petsmart has back rooms all over the country. This is just one Petsmart. The one in my area takes good care of their fish and their small animals always look healthy and well taken care of.
