Petsmart won't take fish for store credit

I've gotten lots of free fish just standing around at Petsmart. They say "we can't take them back" I say "I'll take those."
LOL!

They won't take fish back? I didn't know that! Thanks for posting this.... now I know not to even try taking fish back there.

I worked for a big al's not far from me in the fish room, we always take back the fish for a store credit. If anything really cool came in we could buy it off the customer for cash. Its a good way of doing busness in my opinon.

If viewed from the store's perspective, I guess I would be leery of taking in any fish that I'd have to QT because of possible problems, mistreatments etc. To give credit for it as well would seem over the top but the big picture would still be to take the fish back to keep the customer happy and coming back for more. I'll try at a smaller chain. I haven't found any mom & pop LFS around here yet.

Big chain stores don't ever quarantine their regular fish shipments (as far as I've seen), so I don't think they're worried about that ;) Plus, judging by the rampant ich and other diseases, I don't think they care. As I said, they view fish as inventory with a quick turnover.

yep! sad but true!!

thanks, rosswake. The last store I went to actually had hatchetfish that looked like they were dying of ich. I've NEVER seen ich that bad, to the point I actually thought the fish would die from it. It was probably on their eyeballs and everything :(

ouch!! gotta feel sorry for those guys, and even more sorry for the fish that were put in there right after they died (assuming they didn't get any care)
