Picasso Clown Problem?!!! Please help!

Also, this should probably be in the Saltwater Disease/Illness section. Maybe you could put another post in there, and see if it gets more hits? Just trying to think of anything to help you... Mention the reddish-brown spot in the thread title.

i dont see it on there :( im gonna take him to my LFS and see what they have to say!

Check to see if you see it on any of the white. If not, there is a very good chance it is a pigmentation problem that results from them trying to host something that is not receptive to the idea (e.g. zoas). Keep an eye on it for rapid breathing or lethargy. If nothing like that happens then it will clear up on its own (but it takes quite a while). Google brown spots on clown fish and you will find more articles about it.

thanks DSR for now because there is no white on him i will hold off on panicking because he isacting normal and i will keep a very close watch on him!

Didcha read that article? it is pretty interesting. The reason I knew about it is that my former clown (who got eaten by that d@mn nem had it). The nem is now gone, but so is my clown... my daughter comes home today and there will not be a clown fish in teh tank... she is going to be so sad... I will have to tell her, again, that he had to go to the doctor.

Hope everything has worked out as it has been a while since your initial post. If you are using tap water, you could be introducing a number of different things into your tank. I know a lot of people use tap water with success but I have read too many horror stories about tap water ranging from fish/coral kills to severe algae outbreaks. That is why I stick with RO water. It is a small price to pay for peace of mind.

That said, if it does not turn out to be a bump and only a discoloration, you probably have nothing to worry about. Picassos all have different pattern variations and the discoloration might just be from the fish maturing since you got it. I have 2 B/W clowns that were always solid black and white but recently my male has shown a few specs of orange where black used to be.

Again, I hope all is well now. Picassos are awesome!!!

whoa this threads a throw back haha. Well since then he has only 2 specs on him one on his right fin and right underneath it where the fin meets the body. i dont think they are bumps and hes still alive and hopefully still kicking.

since this threads been made i found an RO vendor and the tank is completely filled with RO unless i occasionally have to to do a top off of tap. i change my water every Wednesday, and since then i think everything is going okay in my tank.. im actually gonna go to my LFS and ask the manager to help me set up a 55 gal with sump marine tank. well see how it goes
