Will pictus Cats get on with plecos? I have a 175 Litre aquarium...

ok thanks Sparton, gorgeous EMS ;)

looks like a trip to the LFS for mee!

I might reconsider, the pleco will be plenty big for that size setup, when it outgrows the pictus there could be friction. Catfish species espec. same species in the same tank often result in territoritial issues. Either way its not too likely the two will get along.

I would agree that in tank that size it could be trouble. in a bigger tank, the two usually do fine. the pleco will chase the pictus on occasion, but it's seldom a pleco actually touches a pictus cat, they are too fast. I have kept the two together in most of my oscar tanks over the years.

I saw some peppermint plecos at the LFS and it looked like they don't get too big. Very nice looking cat. Much better would be a school of 6 cories. These fish are 100 times more interesting than plecos. Of course they don't eat algae, but will clean up food on the bottom.

The standard plecos get extremely large and probably would outgrow that tank in a year and half depending on how you feed it.
