My husband's aunt had an id number tattooed on her dog. I don't see anything wrong with that when you live in a bad area and want to make sure there's proof the dog belongs to you.
The other stuff, that's just over the line for me.
Yeah I showed rabbits and goats. They had to have ear tattoos for ID and registration purposes. Every cow and pig I see here in Nebraska has ear tags, but a fancy tat or jewelry on a dog.. or fish is just stupid!
EDIT: That tattooing on them was with a gun with the letter/numbers set in it,and ink rubber on the numbers, one 'squeeze' and it was done. I always hated doing that though. Also if you want to paper those animals, a microchip is not acceptable. (At least it never was when I was showing them)
Tattooing/Piercing animals is wrong plain and simple. The problem is there are so many complete and utter morons who think that its ok for them then its ok for their pets. Bloody people should be thrown in jail.
So Im gunna lighten the mood and tell y'all about my punk rock friend. He had a cute little mutt doggy named Bandit. Whenever Matt would re-dye his mohawk, he would dye the white stripe down Bandit's back the same color, and spike it up. So Bandit would match his daddy. He even checked with his vett before doing it to find out if there was a dye he could use that was safe. Mabey we could suguest something like that to the tatoo and piercing crowd :
