Pit Bull bans...WTF?

.... .. A Pit Bull has the highest PSI of crushing power of any dog in the world. They can crush bone very easily. .... I don't support a ban on the dog any more than I support a ban on handguns. However, I do support strict licensing for them. ....
Think of the money the 'government' can pocket from this! They must charge for licenses - I have one just to legally fish! The gov can add Surcharges, late fees, etc., to inflate the cost - meaning more money. They can require your Pit to go to an 'evaluation' -- of course this will cost too. If your Pit passes the A.A.E. (Agressive Assessment Exam), then you are free to leave, that is for 6 months, then you have to do it all over again.

Why twice a year you may ask? It's the government, why would they miss a chance to charge you two times a year instead of yearly?

If your Pit does not pass the A.A.E. - tough, you lose your money, and on top of that, the dog too....

Hey! It could happen. By the way, Miami has banned Pits altogether.

I like to keep things simple, the leash law works. If and when it fails, we have the right to use lethal force for protection, at least it's that way here. :)

Frankly, with as much demonstrated deadly potential that these dogs have shown, I think that idea has some merit. I'm not against the dog, every animal has a right to exist. But it's the same concept as a handgun. My .45 isn't going to kill anyone as long as I know it's securely locked up (or my dog is trained properly). Now if I leave it out for anyone to play with (or I treat my dog like crap and encourage him to be vicious) then someone is going to get hurt or killed. It all comes down to responsibility and accountability. Something many dregs of society are sorely lacking these days.

Oh pllleeeaaassee....................gimme a break!!! After the recert infamous reporting by major networks that has turned out to be false how can you say that???

This thread was dug up out of the archives...it had already died a natural death. Why not let sleeping dogs lie :dog:

Maybe we need to add debating the visciousness of dog breeds to the no-no list with religion and politics.
This thread needs to be closed.

#1 - Please read the stickys, announcements and forum rules in each forum. Each forum is different and has a different set of rules\guidelines. For example, General Chit-Chat has rules about posting threads involving these topics: Religion, Politics, Sexual preferences, pit bulls, aliens(for you joe), clothing and so on...For more details click here.

Hey nursie, I already got the text ready to be loaded into the rules!!!!!
I did think the debate was getting better. Not that it will go anywhere, but it's fun to hear other peoples opinions. When all caps or angry faces start getting used, they can close it up. :cool2:

Well, Doll...I'd not read it since it was brought back to life and it doesn't say anything that hasn't been said before...and people are just getting pissed :pc:

Me too actually. If I am a responsible dog owner with a pit or a rottie why should I loose my dog or have to pay a fine if my dog and I are not the problem?? Wholesale banning of a breed is not the answer.
You may ask why it bothers me? I don't have either breed, but I do have boxers, and the missinformed think they are pit bulls half the time.

The other danger is that people are lulled into a false sense of security if the dog they are facing is not a pit bull. THere are bad dogs in every breed, and the mutt around the corner can be just as dangerous.

You know, Tomm...I was having the same thought as I typed the above. I could do that...................... :D
