Planted 120G Tank

Well I thought I'd change my Co2 by removing the MD1000 reactor and going with the Mazzei injector instead. After talking to their support (very helpful) I told them I wanted an inline to be driven by my Fluval 405 and we came up with 684. I'm still trying to decide if I like its affects or not all the misting makes the tank look fogged up. I know a members have added a reactor anyway to have it difuse further in the chamber rather than mist in the tank as an alternative. (I'll consider that down the road.)

Here it is....
Left (I think you can make out the misting of the mazzei)

Right (I did get rid of the Queen Marble Sword it was just a monster.) I also started a moss wall seen on the right there, it's filling nicely

Thanks for looking...

Do you have cardinals and bloodfins in the same tank? I think I'm in love. :perv:

Overall, it looks great!

Thanks irishspy - but no bloodfins actually it surprises people to realize just how many fish are in there if I draw them out with food as they are pretty good at hidding amongst the plants.

My Tetras groups were originally kept in separate tanks, after deciding to reduce the number of tanks, this became it for the 120g and the Congos & Angels went to the 90g.

I have 4 Black (had bought 25 more during the Petsmart $1 deal but only one survived quarentine due to ick and who knows what else.) They don't seem to get enough love in planted tanks.

I have larger groups of Rummy noses, Greens and Cardinals not sure how many of each.

Rummy noses - I think I have more than one type although I'm pretty sure I bought them all at the same time.

Cardinals -What can I say there's a reason why these guys are favored in planted tanks

Green - I believe this to be a female the Males get incredibly colorful with white and black tips on their fins as well.

There's a group 10+ Sterbai

Handful of Ottos and Bushynose (1 Albino adult and 3 Juvinal Browns)
There's also shrimp RCS and Japonica to round it off.

Beautiful shots. I bet I mistook the Greens for Bloodfins in the more distant shot. Regardless, a tank with multiple schools of tetras must be lovely.

Great tank and fishie shots!

Yeah, a gorgeous tank. And even though the last pic before the crash was incredible, this latest version is very nice and "looks" like it would be easier to maintain.

I'm certainly not an expert but it seems like a tank at the level of your previous version is a knife edge balancing act just waiting for you to become distracted for a moment. It really was at the level of the tanks you see entered in the big competitions. Certainly your plant growing skills and health of the plants themselves, even the exotics was at that level. The only thing you were working on was layout/aquascaping and that just takes experience. And certainly you have an eye for that as well.

One thing that seldom is dicussed is the fact that a majority of those tanks in the competitions, which we in this hobby tend to use as a benchmark, are usually torn down and re-submitted next year as a completely different tank. In other words, they never have to get through the potential crash period when everything has fully matured and the tank is at full capacity. Maybe I'm all wrong but it seems like it would be easier to grow a tank to that level than to keep it there for a long time.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that you should take pride in being able to acheive that level of success and know that many of the "benchmark" tanks that we see are never required to pass the test of time.

Anyway, it's a great tank and it looks like you are getting the upper hand on the algae. Best of luck and Happy Holidays.

Thanks all....
I have a case of green water at the moment but I'm just going to let it cycle through inhabitants and plants don't seem to mind it, it isn't as thick as it has been at other times.

irishspy I wanted to catch one of the greens displaying the colors with the white and black tip fins. I've been assuming that's how you can tell they are males but I've been wrong before...LOL

This isn't one of the brightest ones in the tank but the others were to far back to get a clear shot through the green water, not to mention they are fast... All those white specks you see is the Mazzei injector at work.

I totally agree it is very satisfying to see my tank come together. I've come to terms a long time ago that my tank will never be contest entry worthy and I'm okay with that. I'm a cultivator at heart with the accidental aquascape eye...LOL

Anyway, it's a great tank and it looks like you are getting the upper hand on the algae. Best of luck and Happy Holidays.

Thank you, you too....

Well my lighting on the tank went south Icecap 660 stopped working (Icecap went out of business) so I went with a 2nd Sunlight 80w T5HO retrofit kit. So I now have 4 80w T5ho under my hood and it looks great.

Putting it together.
