Planted Tank Total Rearrange... Pitfalls?

I was just going to ask you if you got it. I'm glad to hear you are enjoying it. As Tom mentioned earlier, there is some stuff in there that is a little dated, but all in all, you'll certainly get your money's worth

Cheers

Yeah, it's a little dated as far as technology goes for sure, but it's more about concepts that make good scientific sense. Reading this has inspired me to write myself. (but not about aquaria) It's humorous how people are still not getting some of the concepts in this book from 1985 though. Totally common sense stuff here! Thanks again for the suggested reading, Roy. That $0.40 has gone a long way!

Man, this is a great book! Thank you for suggesting it! I got a used hard back for $0.40, and it is perfect. Also it's very funny... I love the approach the writers take.

It was a bit of sales book for Dupla products back then also, like the Book of ADA, but had a lot more fundamentals and rational behind the products than ADA. ADA countered that with pretty pics and nice scapes, something Dupla did not focus so much upon.
I have an old copy sitting here from when I got into planted tanks years ago.

I even hand made 7 heating cables for various aquariums back in the 1990's. But quickly saw they had no use other than heating the tank.

Yeah, I noticed it as soon as the "10 rules" all mentioned a product name. I ignored it as I usually do when it comes to sales literature. Back in the day, I would probably have been making heating cables too, DIY. I don't see much point in them now though. It could work obviously, but there are easier ways to heat the tank that don't cost much. How about glass tubes filled with heating cables? lol

It's funny, I have found myself reading books about the science behind aquariums a lot more lately. It's hard to find all of the information you need to make good overall decisions online. So many opinions, not enough scientific information is what I've found online. I don't care how much you paid to have name brand X filter or light. I can make nearly anything work if I understand the science behind it. There is more than one way to skin a cat! (No offense, cats.)
