Ever since i got into plants i have a need to have some in all my tanks. Im not a plant nut but i just enjoy having my tanks with greenery. Its just so cool to watch more than my fish thrive in a tank. Anyone feel the same way?

Ever since i discovered plants that would work in an aquarium with low light / no ferts etc which was a few years ago, i had to have some greenery in my tanks as well, until i got more seriously into planted tanks about a year or so ago...

Then the obsession started to get crazy

For me, the center is the fish, but all of my tanks have had live plants. With one exception (that caused me to not want anymore that way) all have been low tech, hardy, low-light species, but they have to be there or the tank just doesn't look right.

To me---A FW tank with PLANTS is a must. I like a forrest.

Planted tank enthusiast here too... Anyone can keep a fish tank, but a live landscape too... now that's what I'm talking about! I don't have much space for an outdoor garden, so I turned to aquatic plants, and I'm never turning back! Also, plants help so much by benefiting the fish and the overall health of a tank. GO GREEN!

I love planted tanks. I have 7 glass tanks and 2 tubs and all of them are planted to various degrees. Even though I cannot enjoy the plants in the tubs they are great for soaking up nitrates and making fish feel more comfortable. Zorro is right, living landscapes are where it is at.

Planted tanks are like freshwater reefs. On a large enough scale you could stock fish that depend on the plants for food and shelter along with a predator or two. A few inverts to bring it all together, now that's a tank!

+1 for thinking big and thinking self sustaining ecosystem. It would be hard to hit the sweet spot with all the different variables to take into account.

In my next tank, i intend to add just a few different type of plants but only very little. I find it awesome to see the fish swim in and around the plants and occasionally hide in the plants as well. Idk how the members on MonsterFishKeepers can have these huge beautiful fish and enormous tanks and do very little to NO live plants at all. What i would do for a 300+gallon planted tank.... *Sigh*

^ x2 on the 300G+ planted idea...

I've said to myself when the day comes my fahaka dies, i'd likely turn her 200G tank into a full blown iwagami tank or natural aquascaped tank...

Since after seeing how my fish in the 60G act with somewhat natural surroundings, it feels like having a window into nature..
