Plants not growing well...

Yes - I'm approaching the limit of DIY CO2 myself - I have 2x 4L jugs pumping CO2 into an Eheim 2215's intake for a 46g tank. I'm on the low end of dissolved CO2 (*maybe* 15ppm, on a good day).

Part of the reason I want to go pressurized is cause of the room 2 4L or, 4x 2L takes up. I try to keep everything under my tanks, and man is it getting crowded under there.

Not to mention all the extra work you do just to have DIY CO2. So much easier to have pressurized. Darn near, set it and forget it! :grinyes:

Haha, I wish my honey cooked more. I just picked up 2x Eheim 2217's for 100$...am I going to be able to hook up the pressurized system to them like you did your 2215? Is there anything special I have to buy?

I had my pressurized hooked up to my 2217 for only a day or so....started making some sick cavetation noises, so I got a Red Sea 500 reactor.

The short time I used DIY CO2, I ran the CO2 line into the intake of the Eheim with no problems. Seems to me that the pressurized just puts out far too much gas for the Eheim (or any canister filter, for that matter) to handle. IMO.

did you have the CO2 hooked up the intake of the filter? The impeller makes a great way to chop the Co2 bubbles up, but can be noisy and may or may not be harmful to the impeller. Using an in-line reactor on the return line is quieter and less harmful to the filter.

Yeah, it was hooked up to the intake. I just hated the noise it made, and wasn't sure if I was doing it any damage.

I looked in once and saw a huge(5") bubble of CO2 in there as well. Not really sure why that happened.

I figured better safe then sorry and just buy the reactor. Big Al's had that free shipping and it was only $34. Much better than spending $120 on a new filter!

you can always do an in-line reactor as a DIY project, I'm sure theres quite a few plans in the DIY section. Rex Gregg also sells them I believe. Its nothing more then a PVC tube, connectors, and some bio-balls.
