I just run my line to the inlet basket on my 2215. On days 1 & 2 of a new DIY mix, it makes some noise now and then, but that stops after a couple of days. Eheim impellors are pretty stout, compared to those made by other (notice I didn't say "inferior" so as to avoid any flaming) vendors.
