Playsand needs a rinsing?

Very nice how-to in that link!

Neon, just so you know, they sell silica sand at the local HD here, exact same thing as pfs and had it in my 20 gallon for years now with no problems.

Dont be scared of the warnings on the label, they are meant to deter exposure that we wont be dealing with in the hobby. Give it a good rinse as per the link above and enjoy.

I haven't purchased pfs as of yet. Can you tell me the exact place you bought your silica sand? Thanks 247

wheelbarrow and a garden hose :) great for rinsing sand/gravel. you can do about 1/2 a 50lb bag at a time.

I prefer pool filter sand, too. Any pool supply store will have it. Home depot/etc may or may not. I still suggest rinsing PFS.

Home depot unfortunately didn't carry any :(.

I think I got mine at Lowes. The one on Bellflower here in LB.

Lowes, huh? I have never been there. I'll check it out, thanks, Plants. :)

Got it. Got 3 bags from lowes's pico rivera. I'm going to give it a nice rinse tomorrow afternoon and pour it in the aro tank. So far so good. ;) I'll update later with a pic.
