Playsand needs a rinsing?

Got it. Got 3 bags from lowes's pico rivera. I'm going to give it a nice rinse tomorrow afternoon and pour it in the aro tank. So far so good. ;) I'll update later with a pic.

Good luck. I had considered both play sand and PFS because they were cheap, but I ultimately went with 30lbs of Flourite instead for size and color of substrate for 40 bucks + tax. PS was a good color and cheap, but it was way too fine. PFS was coarse enough (20 grit), but I didn't like the color (gray-ish mix). I also had considered blasting sand they sell at HD, but that was way too fine (30 grit; I'd want 20 or coarser), even though the color was perfect (light brown, beach sand color).

I ended up rinsing the Flourite about 2 hours, and it is settling pretty well in my 20g long tank after a day.

Go outside with 2 buckets and sand. One bucket add 1/3-1/2 sand and then turn the hose on, push the hose into the sand and constantly move it around at different depths and sides. Once the overflow is clear, you can dump that sand out to the other bucket and start on a new batch. Make sure you are really agitating the sand with the water, otherwise, it won't reach little pockets and the tank will cloud anyway.

:iagree: That's how I did my black tms and it worked out really well.

Thanks for the advice. I may give it a try.
