Please help: Stop killing dogs in South-Korea

Ok... I have dogs and love them very much, but can't help but bring a couple things up here...

1) How is an internet petition going to affect how policy is made in South Korea?

2) Asking them to stop eating dogs is like asking anyone else to stop eating chicken, or pork, or cow, etc... Just because dogs are cuter than other animals, if they're bred for food, they're bred for food.

Are you serious? If you don't like the idea of dogs as food don't eat them, but telling an entire country what they should and shouldn't eat? Pigs are at least as smart as dogs and can be a great pet, why not start petition to stop the US from using pigs as food? I own 2 dogs and would never eat them, but having lived in a predominately Korean section of Philadelphia for several years I can tell you that dog is a tasty meal. I used to work on a farm and there was a rooster there that bonded to me. That bird would kill or die for me. I think about Rocky every time I sit down to a chicken dinner! I think you need to gain a bit of perspective!

I agree with Inka wholeheartedly, we just stand to **** off more non-Americans, by forcing our culture on others. What if Hindu's told us to stop eating Beef, would you listen?

Yes, sometimes it's a little weird, but other countries have different habits.

If you eat cow in India, that's like spitting on the bible in America.
People eat insects, rodents, anything that is edible, I guarantee it's been eaten.
I can't say that I'd eat dog myself, but, If it's good, then dang, it's good.

Hi,

Wait a moment here, this petition is started by a South korean organisation. And how it will effect policy is explaind on the web site.

Also if we kill cows chickens etc we don't torture them first because the meat would "tast better".

But ok, it is up to you if you sign or not, just want to make you aware that this is petiton is not started from outside of korea but from inside korea itself. And they ask the whole world to speak.

I lived in South Korea for 2+ years. Not in Seoul or on a military installation, but deep in the heart of the country. There was a total of 42 Americans where I was living. The people in the villages need Kegogi (dog meat) to survive. Yes, they keep dogs on very short leashes to keep the meat tender. And yes, from my point of view when I lived there, it was horrible to see, but dog meat is a meat that is eaten there on a daily basis as is cat.

Isn't dog still eaten in the Philippines also? I am almost certain it will still be being eaten in Vietnam. I don't know about China--however, I suspect it would also be eaten there. Not eating non-cloven hoofed mammals is a Christian belief, right?

I believe the French love their horse meat!

Regards,
TA

I noticed. There are lots of problems with the way food animals are treated in the US even. I just don't think it's any one group's prerogative to be telling others how and what to eat. That's like letting PETA tell people in the US they couldn't eat eggs from caged chickens or veal meat.
