please help?!

I'm sorry for your loss.

What other fish are in this tank? Is it a goldie only tank? If so, it shouldn't be heated. How large is the tank?

Also, in regards to transferring all the water from your old tank, that is a completely unecessary step. Water actually holds very little beneficial bacteria. The bacteria colonize your filter and any hard surfaces in the tank, i.e. gravel, decorations, rocks, etc. Are you using the same filter as the old tank? If so, it should already have some beneficial bacteria in it.

hey thanks for your help/ advice hun
my nitrite reading has been 0.05 every time i have checked it ,
but i just decided to test the water straight from the tap, and that showed exactly the same as the water from the fish tank???
its a liquid test kit iv been using.
so im guessing it is a water quality issuse?
but why is my tap water showing positive for nitrite?(i dont expect an answer to that lol)
so no matter how much nitrite i take out in the water change, im just replacing again via the water im putting in the tank?!
Question in red font must be answered by the water company. Please try to contact them over this matter. If you have bacteria that convert nitrite to nitrate, you should not be having this issue at all. 0.05 is quite a small trace. What brand is your test kit?

iv 2 fantails a shubunkin and a loach left. it is the filter from the origonal tank,as are all of the decorations and the gravel!
the plants, i have 3 of one type and 1 of another, im waiting for 5of another kind to be delivered and i think the other one is a kind of jade plant?! cant remember the names of them . should these be enough for now as theres only the 4 fish ?!

ill give the water company a call on monday and ask them about it !

What size is your tank and are you still heating it?

Also, what type of loach do you have?

Are you running an appropriate light for the plants you already have? What is your wattage per gallon?

i think its a weather loach...im not tottaly sure though.
no im no longer heating it - i only heated it when i transferred them over so as to get the temps the same as the smaller tank was warmer than this one ,
its a 400 litre tank, and i do have lights but not sure of the wattage?

i googled it yesterday and it does look like a dojo loach, also in the pet shop it was kept in fresh water!
Can't see what is wrong with it being kept in freshwater. Dojos are actually true freshwater fish and are coldwater species at that although they are invasive in several tropical countries in Asia.

i think its attached? this is a pic of the loach i have - i love the way it can just lie on the branches of the plant and not put any weight on it :D
