Pond Coat is great to work with. I currently have about 6 coats on my tank and it goes on real nice. It's like painting with something that is a mixture of latex paint and pudding. Anyway, put your first coat on a little on the thick side or at least as thick as you are comfortable with. The first coat is easy to put on thick, the rest are a little easier to thin out. Recoating while to previous coat is still tacky makes it easier as well.
Thanks badoleross had a very busy day wasnt able to order "paint" just yet try again tomorrow. How far does a gal of it go?

I gotta order glass yet too i think I'll get it painted and when I order it I'll put the tank in the bed of my truck and install it at glass place.

Definitely have it delivered. It will cost a little more, but you'll be more than happy to have the extra time and convenience of all your own tools and such on hand.
Yes, now that I think about it, you're right on with the own tools and what not.

I would get 2 gallons and keep putting on coats until its gone. In that link I sent you early on of the pond coat build, Joey used 2 gallons and your tank is very similar in size.I would also paint the underside of your top with pond coat while it is off the tank and then screw it on after the glass is installed. You just want to protect that surface more then seal the edges. As far as the glass, have it delivered or go and pick it up. My glass is currently on order and I cant decide if I am going to pick it up (free) or have it delivered ($50)
One more thing on painting the top with Pond Coat that I discovered today. If you paint the top edge of your tank with PC and you paint the underside of the top, once you screw them together, they are not going to come apart. I am going to poly the top edge of my tank and poly the underside of the top where it will come in contact with the top of the tank so I can get them apart if needed.

The entire thing will is screwed together and the top will also be screwed on after the glass and it's painted with POND COAT, the siliconed in all the seams. The stand will also have a 2x6 "BORDER" screwed to it.

Dont silicone "all the seams"! Pond Coat will not stick to silicone. But, in tests, silicone does stick to pond coat. Pond Coat will seal all the the seams in the plywood, you will just need silicone on the viewing window.
