Hi new to the fourms, Well i set up my 55 gal tank on sunday did all the propper prep tap water conditioner washed gravel and so on. Monday i went to the lfs and bought Bio spiro enough to treat 90 gallons and used 2/3 of it and 6 giant danios.
mon-ph 7.6 nitrite=0 nitrate=0 amm=1
tue-ph 7.6 nitrite=0 nitrate=0 amm=.5
wed-ph 7.6 nitrite=0 nitrate=0 amm-.25
thur-ph 7.6 nitrite=0 nitrate=0 amm=1-3?
These test were taken with The mardell master kit. Is my tank doing ok where do i stand in the cycle? I think i went through the bacterial bloom the tank got cloudy on tues wed and cleared thurs. Let me know what you think?

I am looking forward to seeing the responses on this one, the ammonia was 1.0 on the first day of a 55 gallon tank being set up with a couple of fish?
Is this due to the bio-spira? Then it dropped considerably with no nitrite showing up did you water change to have that happen? Then it rose quite considerably today...

I'm curious why ammonia was showing up right away.

What kind of test are you using?

I have not done any water changes yet. Actually looking back on monday amonia test i think i tested it wrong. I think i waited to long to compare the colors. The test strips are so hard to inturpret. I will pick up a water kit friday. What should the amm. spike at when cycling.

I already knew I was fallible, but thanks for your input to try and help the poster.

The test strips are hard to read. I should have specified in my question above if you were using the strips. You should probably change some water and use Prime so the ammonia doesn't hurt your fish.

The strips really are unreliable...you should consider getting a liquid test kit you can get a master kit at places like bigalsonline.com or thatpetplace.com for a very reasonable price.

Just my opinion here, good luck

will doing a 50% water change put a damper in the bio spira (sp?) bacterial additive or should i wait a couple of days yet.
