Pond snail: Frequent egg layer ??

I got a batch of new plants. I didn't use anything to clean them being a 1st timer. A couple of months later, I have 1 pond snail and quite a few flat brown coils of little snails (discoidal ? dunno what they are (ramshorn?) but slow growers compared to the pond snail). The pond snail has gone from invisible to 3/4" in just a few weeks. I have picked off 3 batches of eggs on leaves just this last week. I saw it laid another batch today. Is it going to lay eggs every other day ?? There are only molly fry in the tank so definitely are snail eggs and the pond snail seems to be the only one big enough to be laying eggs.

Pond snails lay eggs like crazy. They will overfill a 2.5 gallon aquarium in just a few weeks if they are all that is in there. But if you dont overfeed then they wont overpopulate and are actually quite beneficial to the aquarium. I have tham in my 20 high and they eat algae better than anything I have ever kept. Plus they do some funny things sometimes, especially when they go 'surfing.' My guppies always think they are food and knock them down.

I agree with fBallGuy, I have pond snails in my vivarium newt set up, and they are THE BEST when it comes to algae eating. they do lay eggs like crazy too. Pond snail eggs are clear usually in a round clutch. Rams horns grow much slower than pond snails, I have both in my vivarium (hitchhikers) and they are the best cleanup crew around. I think far superior than MTS (which are also in this tank). before you know it they will be everywhere and you'll think to your self OMG there are so many, but they will level off and then population will die back. If you have a dwarf puffer then you also have an endless supply of food for it :p: .
 
Alright, I'll let the eggs hatch and see. I've read that the ramshorn (likely what I have) can be destructive but I haven't had any problems with them so far. The pond snail has been good and I do like it when it surfs. I'd just rather pick eggs out than pick out snails and think about them dying a slow death in the trash can. I'll see how many I end up with first..
 
Ram Snail eggs

I have 2 Ram snails who keep laying eggs they never hatch? I also have puffers in a different tank, so I would love to have a regular supply of snails. Does anyone have any advice on how to hatch these eggs?
