Possibilties for my nano

here is my plan

10 gallon tank

live rock, 20 lbs

live sand 15 lbs

2 flourescent lamps

reef water conditions with moderate current

2 (mated pair) amblyeleotris wheeleri

2 algae snails

1 brittle star

alpheus randalli (how many of these can i have?

I was also considering synchiropus picturatus or splendens. Would one of these be possible instead of the amblyeleotris wheeleri?
 
a mandarin in a 10 gallon tank? not a chance. :eek3: I think you would constantly be putting in a culture of copepods because no way could a 10 gallon sustain remotely enough.

ok then, are there any other small fish that would work in a nano that are fairly colorful
 
in a 10 gallon hmmmm. . . potentially a firefish. a clown. Someone else I'm sure can suggest what they have had success with.
 
Which clown? I haven't found one yet that the online caresheets don't recommend 20 gallons or more.
 
I think someone on here or another forum has one ocellaris clown in a 10g. I don't agree with it, but I also am not doing a 10 gallon nano for a reason. I'm also vegan so yea . . . it's a whole different topic on what I won't do, put in certain sized tanks.
 
You can easily keep an ocellaris pair in a 10 gallon. Normally, they don't stray far away from their host and so 10 gallons will suffice. Just make sure your water quality stays good. Gobys are also good for a nano. Not all gobys anyways.

Those recommended tank sizes aren't very good for nano tanks. Those recommendations are based on the type of care given to most full-sized tanks.

What does you being vegan have to do with anything? For one its off topic, and the only thing it means is that you have to take dietary suppliments to get the proteins you need, and you wont be getting the omega fatty acids you need. Your comment made it seem like you think that you are somehow "better" that all of us because you are vegan. Well guess what I raise cattle, chickens, turkeys and hogs for people to EAT!!!

HOWEVER, I dont want to overstock my nano, thats why I am asking about small fish to put in it.
