I got 5 platys yesterday (and a few guppies) and placed them in a new tank which is running with established filter media.
I should have looked over the fish better but it appears one has a tiny bit of tail fin missing and a whitish margin to that area. I am also suspecting this on one other fish though it's not as clearly visible as it is on the first fish.
I read thru the articles section and the article on ich but didn't see any treatments for fin rot (if this is even what is happening).
The water is reading 0 across the board (API test kit). I will check the water twice daily to make sure the established filter can keep up with the bio load of the fish.
I know water changes are paramount for any issues and I have no problem doing them daily.
Besides staying totally on top of the water quality, are there any meds you would suggest?
Tank is 10 gallons, sand substrate, driftwood. Live plants coming soon.
Thanks!
