Long story short, Oregon is a dead end and my fiancee and I are moving back to Michigan *cuss words*. This 14 BC has been doing so well and I've loved the set up because I haven't overly stressed it out. I still have my 30 gallon back in Detroit that my dad has been keeping. It has room for the rare Zoas I bought but I'm not sure how the male and female Yasha Goby along with their Pistol Shrimp will do in there.

My main concern is there is already a Hi-fin Goby and Pistol in the 30 gallon. Will they fight and kill each other? Or will they coexist?

The second issue, next day shipping will be $160 and the nearest UPS store (Staples) is an hour away. I'm wondering if there is ANYWAY I can just take them with me in the car? I know all the zoas, shrimp and gobies will fit in the single 5 gallon bucket. My friend said in the car if the temps are right I could just throw in a battery powered air stone in the bucket. They will be in the Trans Am so I can have the T-tops off and I don't think it should be an issue. Then I thought I could bring my heater / Hydor power head and plug those inside the bucket when we stop over night.

This trip is going to be five days total.

If all else fails my neighbors said they really want the set up... I know they can do a decent job keeping up with it so if I can't find a decent option they can take care of what I want. However, they are noobs to saltwater so I would fear that they will kill them or I feel that they would want more than what I have and add in more species resulting in a crash. What should I do?

Is there a LFS in Michigan where your dad is that can receive them and hold them until you show up with the BC and your rock? You could then put all the rock in a 5 gallon bucket with an air stone/PH plugged into an inverter. This would keep the rock alive and all you would need to do is replace the sand.

5 days is a long time to be in a bucket. Not saying it can't be done but you would want a sand layer in the tank with at least one piece of LR along with the air stone/PH. I know you spent some money on those through DD and you would hate to let them go.

Technically if shipping is the only real way I could just ship them to my father but for that huge price. It's almost not worth it. If I could find a responsible fish keeper to take this tank over, even for no $$$ I wouldn't care. I just can't stand to have these awesome creatures have such a great life and then give them to someone that doesn't know how to properly care for them. Then again, maybe they will do a good job? I really don't know. If it goes to the neighbors I doubt they will give me much money, if any at all.

Right now I can't see bringing the tank, there is no way with all the other stuff. I also wont be able to set up a new one I don't think. This is why I'm worried about them in the Detroit 30 gallon with the other Goby/Pistol combo. The neighbors would take the tank, clean up crew, and the rock without Zoas on them if I decide to take the livestock.

I'm going to start posting ads in the post office with the price I would like. I just doubt I'll have any takers.

Here's a pic that might help :)...

So sand in a bucket, their will be live rock with the zoas, put air stone in car, powerhead / heater at night = possibility?

Will the pistols live together okay?

Or I could buy one of those 3 prong plug in car travel box things and use a PH/Heater, with air stone all the time through the car ride?

I don't see any reason to use one of those over a bucket. You stand a better chance of not spilling water in the Trans Am with the bucket :). The pistols will be fine together.

Zoas ship very nicely out of water wrapped in paper towels soaked in SW.

Yeah, I was drinking a bit last night. I guess just establishing a bucket should do the trick. So to get the list down:

Battery operated air stone
Sand for bucket
heater
power head
car ac adaptor
Some live rock to seed the bucket
Extra live rock with zoas on them when moving time

I would think this would make it for them to have a safe trip? Should I think of a light or will this long darkness be best?

Shipping for the Zoas I think will still be too much and I don't have appropriate containers I don't think...
