The 'designer gravel'...a handful of brightly colored rocks for a couple bux. My gravel comes from Home depot...$4 for 50 lbs !

Ditto the ph adjusters/buffers, too. A little dilute HCl works great to lower ph if needed...and I don't even bother with THAT anymore.

*Millions of fish would inevitably live happier lives if no tanks smaller than 5g existed. Of course there are limited uses for tiny tanks and bowls, but the majority of people buying them think anything goes. I watched a video on youtube this week of a girl purchasing fancy goldfish, guppies, a 1g tank, and florescent gravel. Even I wasn't that ignorant before doing research.
