problem with german blue rams and golden rams

Your light is fine for low light plants. You could do java ferns, crypts, pennywort, any number of low light plants out there.

Putting plants in my tank does not completly solve my problem though I don't think. These rswim around very happy and healthy from mon-sat, the second I start to vacuum my gravel they get stressed right out and stop swimming, lose their bright color and breath extremely heavily. With this happening, I still believe that its gas pockets because they are 100% normal untill begin vacuuming my gravel. If they were sick/stressed from illness/tankmates/water conditions they would show signs of it during the week. The only time they don't act normal is right when I move the gravel around with my vac.

trying doing them when lights are off. maybe they just get stressrf.

I've always done it with the light off. The only reason I havnt got new lighting is because my lid wraps right over the rim of my tank and I don't have the black plastic thing where I could get a glass light and a dual t5 fixture. I have to get them custom built and install/silicone it myself. I will be doing that one day, but at the moment I don't have the 400$ to throw away on that

This may seem simplistic, but I would suggest not gravel vaccing. Maybe you are stirring something up that is best left alone. Or maybe your fish just can't cope with it. There are other approaches to maintenance that might work better for them.

Maybe this person is right. Another route to go is to install under gravel filters. That would keep the filter running from underneath and maybe stop all gas pocket issues altogether. Then you would know for sure if your fish get weird again when you gravel vac it isn't from gas pockets
