PROJECT 210

I will drain the aquarium today and recheck all the plumbing and give it all a second try. I really hope everythings okay.

Well last night I had to tear down my wet dry and remove all the silicone. I was hoping to just cut all the glass pieces out but when the first one broke I decided to smash the rest out and start all over.

I'm actually kind of glad I did. My cuts are cleaner this time around and the silicone job is definetly an improvement. Best part about it, it only took me about half the time.

Exactly:grinyes:

I think someone should write up a post on whats aquarium safe and sticky it. Would make things a lot easier for first time DYI'ers like myself.

You might want to take a look at this on TPF GE Silicone II help lay conjecture to rest

Discusses the use of various silicones including GE II. Dont think you have to be a member to view it.

on the bright side: my pump and powerheads came in today

Powerheads arent as strong as i thought they'd be, but i'm content.

Yeah I would have suggested those Aquaballs wouldnt do much for a tank that big but the first I saw you mention it was when you already ordered it. I think they are great for a 10 or 20G but thats about it IMO. You need to add another zero on the gph figure, like the Koralia 1200 gph pump or the more pricey Tunze's. The nice thing about those is they disperse the flow compared to regular powerheads so you dont get this really strong jet of water, you get a wider flow path of water that is a bit gentler on anything that happens to be right in front of it but still moves a much greater volume of water... and they are way more efficient energy-wise. Just a suggestion if you find the Aquaballs a bit inadequate.

Yeah, i might end up using them in another setup. I've got 3 aquarclear 802's i'll throw in there for now.

***UPDATE***

Took bulkheads apart and made sure overflow boxes were spotless clean.

Finished up all plumbing to wet dry, which is actually going to work more like a wet flow, because i made the last compartment too high, but dont want to redo anything else.

anyways... no more leaks and this is what it looks like now...

going to drain one last time and refill half way and fill the rest up with water change-water...

the rest is cake...

Nice.

***UPDATE***

Here's a picture of everything up and running.

the flow is heavy but not to fast.
vuala!

Next step: Canopy/ lights.

Good job!
