***Project Niagra***

Well I got all of the old silicone off to reseal the entire tank. It was blue and a mess. I underestimated this job a lot. If anyone has any tips on removal I would love to hear them before the next time I reseal any tank. I had to find a stopping point as I bought white silicone instead of clear. Hopefully I'll be able to post pics in a day or two.

ethos-I think its just going to be concrete with some black and dark reddish brown tint added in in various amounts between layers. I want it to be darker than regular concrete and not one specific color. I will be happy the more natural I can make it look. I'm sorry I didn't understand your last question can you explain?

Razor blades and vinegar. Also, get some of those shop guards for your fingers lol. I lost a lot of blood to my old 55g once upon a when.

I think you pretty much answered both questions with the first part. I was wondering if you were sculpting cascading water with that foam looking stuff or just rock formations. Sounds like rock, which I think is better. I was confused by the blue hue of the material.

yes im trying to make fake rock overall. but where my waterfalls are the water is meant to trickle and cascade. anything over an inch above the water and it makes the entire setup too loud for my living room. So what I am trying to accomplish is water trickling through rocks from the top tank down to the bottom

Before you refill the tanks i would add some mesh over the part where water leaves the top tank if you havent already. You never know what a fish will do. I had a corry follow food or algae right to the filter intake. I was watching so I saved him by turning the filter off. Dummy did the same thing the next day but I wasnt there to save him.

though it would be a bit funny if you woke up one morning and all the fish were swimming around the bottom tank.

Well Im finally making some progress once again. The new glass got installed. PIA is all I can say. The leak test went well and I moved the structure inside to begin cycling. I installed the smaller pump and it worked great. For now I just have a white piece of pvc over the waterfall outlet just to eliminate some splash until I finish up the concrete work. Here are a few crappy phone pics

Looks nice. One question though, what is PIA?

I have always seen PITA which is pain in the (butt)

Looking good! I cant wait to see the final product. Is the water flowing good enough from the top tank to the bottom one with the pvc like that? I suppose even if you cut it shorter the water would just fall until the top of the waterline for the bottom tank anyway.
