The vast majority of the frogspawns I've seen in the hobby are the branching variety. They grow as each head splits into two (or possibly even three -- I swear one of mine has done this), each head builds more skeleton (growing it's own branch), and the process repeats.
There's also a variety that grows in more of a wall form, which I've had less than stellar results keeping alive long term despite how easy the branching variety has been.
If it was fragged by cutting apart heads that were still joined together by living flesh, it is possibly that it was damaged when it was fragged. The way it looks to me though, is that it had receded previously (noticeably darker dead skeleton) and then some more recently (bright white skeleton). I do see the cuts you're talking about -- I can't really decide one way or the other what they're from.
Give it time, keep your parameters in check, and feed it a couple of times a week if you see that it is accepting the food.
