Pyxie Palace

setup is going to look awesome when it grows in and the frogs get in that tank. Those are really cool looking frogs too..

Nice of you to save a few.

Good luck and keep up the pictures !

Thanks for the kind words peeps! :)

I wasn't sure if we were doing the right thing by taking them from their "natural habitat" but I feel a whole lot better about it now! I'm planning to take some time out this week and visit the bullfrog pan to take a few photos - will post them up here when done.

Took a couple more photo's of the brats in their temporary home tonight - they were acting ultra-cute by pretending to be java fern...

Attached a couple more pics of the attempt to root some plant cuttings for the tank and testing the waterfall...

Nice pics. :) I have that exact background on my 25g (well, a bit shorter :grinyes:).

I think you are doing the right thing. Their habitat is basically gone so what's the harm in helping? Get as much plant matter as you can from the original site. I'm sure that would help them feel comfortable.

this is going to be a really awesome tank. If I had the money, I'd love to set up some sort of tank like this. Those frogs are super cute. Kudos.

Thank you! :)

I took a few photo's of the Bullfrog Pan today whilst out collecting plants for their new home. Thought I'd share my lil corner of Africa with you! :)

The sign on the front entrance says no cars, motorbikes etc but as you can see in the 4th and last photo theres been quite a bit of traffic through the grassland and a clearing they have made right next to the waters edge.

I'm p|ssed off about them driving through the grass like that - It's a breeding ground for hundreds of bird species, snakes, and hunting ground for the frogs. Theres a tarred road they can use thats near the entrance but I guess they just to darn lazy!

They have broken down the concrete fence as well which means the frogs can now get out onto the roads etc.

I think it's time for some protest action!

Had a very quiet boring day in the office so I took time off to collect some plants and work on the Pyxie Palace.

I'm too impatient to wait weeks for the grass to grow from seeds so I opted for the "instant lawn" approach and grabbed a suitably sized patch of grass covered in clover type weeds, fine grass (not sure what it's called), and moss.

Heres the progress on the tank. Froggies should be in their new home in a day or 2 once I've been shopping for a filter. Tomorrow I start building the hood...
