Qs-tip #5 Plants on a stick

ok.. someone explain this again in dumb dumb terms for me.. because i dont quite understand what to do... how to do it.. and the main benefits of doing it.. .. but the responses make me feel like i need to do it.. hahah

but seriously. someone give me the nitty gritt on this.. for the retard in me.. :confused::eek3::help::eek::lipssealedsmilie::huh::feedback:
 
For Looks.
To be able to post a plant on a stick.
Able to move the whole plant attached to a stick.

Get a chopstick, get sewing string, get a plant, attach to the top half, stick bottom half of stick into the substrate.

Meaning to try it with subwrrastang or pelia soon.
 
will the plant still sen dout runner and grow in other areas of the tank.. or no..

and is this stick plan.. simply for moving the main bunch of a plant around of need be

The main reason I did this in the first place was to gain height with the plant. The ability to move it around the aquascape or swap it out to other tanks as it matures was a bonus.

I have only tried this with Java fern and Crypts. The Java keeps to the stick and intertwines the roots together. The rizome keeps creeping around the stick. The Crypt gets a bit loose and needs to be checked every so often. The roots will reach for the bottom and may need to trimmed if you plan on moving it around. The Crypts shoots stay in close so no wandering plantlets there. I just swapped a Java stick and a Crypt stick Yesterday and both are doing fine.

I'm going to try this with my anubias. I couldn't find a good way to keep it attached to my drift wood without it looking like crap and didn't want to bury the rhizome for obvious reasons. The plants inevitably end of floating around every few days. Instead of using a washer and a screw as an anchor I'm going to try a plant weight and wrap it around the bottom.

I delivered some Java moss to a coworker after having tied said moss to chopstick pieces.
