Question about canister filters

jasonskillz said:
of course the JEBO filter is quiet
when i sit by my tank i dont notice the filter at all
i would surely go for the filter
let me share this secret wit u
the price is low but it is good
works better than any filter i see around

I guess u work on commission.

anyone else have any experience with the 3heim 227 or these JEBO filters

I owned Eheim filters many years ago, and those models (which I've forgotten now) are probably still very popular. I hated :rant2: the inconvenience of cleaning them, and they were extremely difficult to get primed and started :pc: . I believe they are amongst the current Classic models.

I also own a H.O.T. Magnum Canister from Marineland. Nice filter to move from tank to tank for cleanups with the pleated filter, and nice with carbon and sponges for routine maintenance. I have a 50g acrylic that I would normally use it on, but my Fluvals do a better job. I've seen the Magnums for as little as $48.99, but the Jebo is 10 times the filter for only $40.

I own 4 Fluval canisters, and really like them. I know a lot of folks complain about the difficulty of cleaning, but I don't find that to be the case. I own a 104, 204 and two 304's. The 404 model seems to have a problem with the impellar assembly according to several posts on several forums. I've never owned a 404, so I don't know.

I own a Jebo Odyssea CSF4 (aka Jebo 838 with a couple of improvements). The Jebo is an excellent filter :bday: , extremely inexpensive, and comes packaged with media including filter pads, carbon, ammonia remover, and ceramic rings. Assembly of the hoses, valves and intake/output tubes is quite easy if you have minimal mechanical skill. It took me less than 30 minutes from box to a running a filter. Although Jebo is somewhat new to the US market, and therefore has many skeptics, the company has been around for enough years to have a good reputation in Austrailia, New Zealand, throughout Asia as well as Europe. I have several of the Chinese made curved glass bowfront tanks that include overhead wet/dry filtration systems and lighting all inclusive. They make for a very attractive and funtional package. I'm very happy with the tanks, but I'm equally impressed with the performance of the canister filter. It's large enough to handle a huge amount of media, and keep a tank of 100 gallons or so sparkly clean. Others have determined it to be a clone of the Eheim Pro II line. I don't know about that, but I do know that it works well, and is very quiet. No leaks around the power cord like Rena Filstars develop, no priming problems, and so far no reliability issues. And, after determining its performance, the price is absolute fantastic.

You'll see that the output flow is comparable to all other top of the line canister filters, and that its filtering performance is all it should be. If you absolutely, positively have to own overpriced designer brand names, then by all means, spend your money on Eheim or Filstar. But, IMHO, there is better value available from Jebo.

Good luck with your choice, and let us know what you decide.

I own a jebo and a odyssea filter now and find they are almost identical I don't prefer one over the other they both work well for my money either of them is the best. BTW I am sure jebo and odyssea are both made in the same sweat shop just jebo spends the extra money in a ul listing not worth anymore to me watch on ebay you can usally get the jebo or odyssea for about 50-60 shipped

Jason,

Jebo, Jebo Odyssea, Jebo Lifetech, Jebo Newport, and several other "brand" names are all the same. They're all made by Jebo. They're all Jebo products. In fact, if you take the time to visit a few fish stores, you'll find the various brands, and some will have both the Jebo name and, for instance, the Newport or Lifetech name. Please talk to your local fish stores, distant fish stores, and even your distributors......as I have.

I know a wholesaler locally who sells Jebo and Jebo Odyssea products, and he's a direct importer. I tend to believe what a direct importer or distributor says more than you.

APBI is a distributor marketing their own products manufactured in their own facilities in China, just up the road from Jebo. Though their products are similar to Jebo, they ARE different. This distributor has a complete line of pet products, and is very knowledgeable about the competition. This includes competitors in the aquarist hobby, and their main competition is Jebo. They're very familiar with all the products and brand names that come out of the Jebo facilities.

Another thing....Underwriters Laboratories test for compliance to standards. If a tested item complys with the standard, it is approved for safety. If a manufacturer gets a prototypical unit tested and passed, why not sell the same product without the UL approved sticker and added cost under another brand name? This practice allows the manufacturer to sell a safe product, yet save potentially millions of dollars in licensing. This savings can be passed on to the consumer. Any manufacturer, in today's litigious society would be foolish and negligent to sell any product to the public that was potentilly hazardous. Especially electrical items that work in harmony with conductive substances such as water. In these cases, a UL sticker is not only more costly, but unnecessary. I guess there will always be those who look for such things as extra guarantees, but face it, most of us look for price. I know for a fact, that of the several electronics items I've purchased in the last couple of years, including DVD players and recorders, HD TV, Flat Panel TV and/or monitor, power tools, etc, not a single one came with a UL approved rating. And I know that none of the manufacturers want to be held liable for burning down my house. You know they tested the crap out of those devices before releasing them to the retail market.

This reminds me of one of my nephews when he was a kid. He swore he didn't like Rice-a-roni. He had to have the generic store rice/vermicelli brand, because that's the one he liked. Thing is.......Rice-a-roni made the generic store packaging and product for the grocery chain.

im guessing ur not talking to the rite distributor
if u didnt no this, I KNOW THE DISTRUBUTOR, there is only one JEBO distributor in the whole USA, then there are the other brands
y do u think that i know about all of the brands
u might have had almost everything right, but u made one giant mistake
oddysea is by them self, there is no jebo in it
i just want to make sure u know of this
oddysea is a whole different company
you may know ur info very good, but you got on giant flaw
even i have a flaw, me raising fish, but i will learn, like you will learn
i hope this did not insult you in anyway, i just want to let people know the truth

There is little to no difference between the two...and, regardless, it is up to the consumer to decide. Jasonskillz, your attempt at trying to pull a sale, or promote the product however has failed miserably. Who cares who makes either filter, they are both around or under $50 and have both been known for their good filtration for little expense. Rather than argue any longer about your beloved jebo, as it is very evident by now which you prefer, go back to third grade english, buy a suit and go around selling it door to door.

Jason, I think you may be confused about the Jebo Odyssea. Perhaps it is because it appears that English may not be your first language. I seriously doubt that all these people selling "Jebo Odyssea" parts on ebay are wrong.
