I owned Eheim filters many years ago, and those models (which I've forgotten now) are probably still very popular. I hated :rant2: the inconvenience of cleaning them, and they were extremely difficult to get primed and started

c: . I believe they are amongst the current Classic models.
I also own a H.O.T. Magnum Canister from Marineland. Nice filter to move from tank to tank for cleanups with the pleated filter, and nice with carbon and sponges for routine maintenance. I have a 50g acrylic that I would normally use it on, but my Fluvals do a better job. I've seen the Magnums for as little as $48.99, but the Jebo is 10 times the filter for only $40.
I own 4 Fluval canisters, and really like them. I know a lot of folks complain about the difficulty of cleaning, but I don't find that to be the case. I own a 104, 204 and two 304's. The 404 model seems to have a problem with the impellar assembly according to several posts on several forums. I've never owned a 404, so I don't know.
I own a Jebo Odyssea CSF4 (aka Jebo 838 with a couple of improvements). The Jebo is an excellent filter :bday: , extremely inexpensive, and comes packaged with media including filter pads, carbon, ammonia remover, and ceramic rings. Assembly of the hoses, valves and intake/output tubes is quite easy if you have minimal mechanical skill. It took me less than 30 minutes from box to a running a filter. Although Jebo is somewhat new to the US market, and therefore has many skeptics, the company has been around for enough years to have a good reputation in Austrailia, New Zealand, throughout Asia as well as Europe. I have several of the Chinese made curved glass bowfront tanks that include overhead wet/dry filtration systems and lighting all inclusive. They make for a very attractive and funtional package. I'm very happy with the tanks, but I'm equally impressed with the performance of the canister filter. It's large enough to handle a huge amount of media, and keep a tank of 100 gallons or so sparkly clean. Others have determined it to be a clone of the Eheim Pro II line. I don't know about that, but I do know that it works well, and is very quiet. No leaks around the power cord like Rena Filstars develop, no priming problems, and so far no reliability issues. And, after determining its performance, the price is absolute fantastic.

You'll see that the output flow is comparable to all other top of the line canister filters, and that its filtering performance is all it should be. If you absolutely, positively have to own overpriced designer brand names, then by all means, spend your money on Eheim or Filstar. But, IMHO, there is better value available from Jebo.
Good luck with your choice, and let us know what you decide.
