Question on Cycling.

Not entirely true. You can also acquire what is known as "Old Tank Syndrome". However, if you are OC about your water changes and the amount fed, it will help prevent that. Failing to maintain your water properly is just as bad as having an un-cycled tank and almost backs you up to re-starting a cycle.

Nitrate is good. Have you added an air pump of some fashion? Air pumps will help the water to off-gas better allowing for better oxygen exchange as it also creates a larger water surface area

lol um i hope i have an airstone seeing on how there are alot of fish in there lol... ok so if my tank is cycling how much more before time so i can know that my fish are gonna make it?? :) after we figure this tank out i would love help on my currently cycling 29 gallon.:headbang2::drool:

ya i know its toxic :( . but thats the choice i had to take when NO ONE told me about cycling lol. but 1.0 is better than 2.0 from today. :) what do you suggest i do right now about it?

the fish dont seem to be struggling. the guys at 4 different LFS said that if the ammonia is getting to them than the fish would all be at the top of the tank.... also have you been to LA California? Hell the whole world is toxic haha.

well if the ammonia is to high can i throw them in my 29 gallon tank? the ammonia level is still a 0ppm in that tank....i got 4 feeders in there.

Either change more water, or put in some amquel plus/prime. Be careful of the amount, of course. If you don't have some, it will be your best friend and it's inexpensive! The nitrate is from the tap-so the tank has not gotten that far. However! The nitrite phase is starting! So that's good. Reduces our timeline a bit. The bad news is that nitrite seems even more stressful for fish (it interferes with the absorbtion of oxygen) but you already have an airstone and the filter running on there.

I'm from LA! lol. Not toxic like that, but we are one of the leaders in asthmatics!

My only concern is the feeders may have diseases. Splitting the bioload would be good, esp if you're using the same substate you are using in your other tank.

i do have amquel.. how much should i throw in there? im bout to go to bed in a min...should i go ahead and throw some fish in the newer tank?

Lol "throw". I don't know your stocklist( did you list this earlier?), but maybe move two or three of your hardiest fish. What size is your tank? Good news is if you overdose a little on the amquel at water changes, it will def. help the fish.

lol i meant throw in as in the amquel.... but lets see 2 gouramis. 3 cory. 3 crays. 4 otco cats, ghost shrimp and dwarfs.

but isnt that how i got in this position? having fish in a tank that didnt have ammonia to start? cuz now if throw them in the 29 gallon thats not cycled wont that be a problem
