lol an aligator would be nice but I live up in the Pacific Northwest its too cold and rainy
fballguy - i understand. we have racoons and great big mutant killer opposums! i have only two recommedations #1 would have people up in arms about animal cruelty and "how can you do that to another creature - AND WITH A FLAT SHOVEL!" (you get the idea). #2 a REALLY REALLY big loud dog. Our dog is not huge but she is loud and it seems to keep the other critters out and away. Oh yeah, it can't be a slow, dumb big dog either. Racoons eat them.

I vote for a raccoon assassination squad. Make it a family affair, (kids just love spotlights and guns!!) also if you are lucky you have a opossum problem not a raccoon problem. opossums taste much better than coons. feel free to pm me for recipes

HEY! we should exchange recipes. I have an awesome squirell stew recipe from my grandma.

No they're oppossoms, we trapped them years ago I haven't seen 1 of those things in forever.

My neighbor was suffering from a plague of raccoons and he solved it with an electric wire. ZAP!!!! Now if he could get the Blue Heron out, pond life would be perfect.

My Japanese teacher had a heck of a time with raccoons as well. He sat and waited with his gun. I'd do the same.

I plan on starting a pond. If I have a raccoon problem (or any wild animal problem), I'll just get out my paintball gun... heheh, target practice! ^____^

Family friend has a large pond; was having the same issue; now before there are any complaints, they ARE European (not quite the same crazy pacifists as us North Americans;) anyway he shot 2 and hung them off a tree near the pond…. No more problems… (other than the smell and freaked out neighbors…)

He had the same issue with them going after his beehives; same solution….

Tricks from “the old country”

scarecrow

I used to have luck keeping raccoons and herons away with a motion activated high pressure sprinkler called a scarecrow. Make sure to change its position on occasion and don't forget when its on. That is unless you want a shower.
