radiata lion wont eat.

If he's taking the stuffed one's, they should be the only ones he's getting. Ghost shrimp really aren't that good for him by themselves, but they're better food association than freshwater feeder fish.

I have two methods of stuffing and I switch off between the two. The first is using a syringe to inject Vita Chem into the ghost shrimp.

Using a syringe with a low gauge will work better.
You should be able to get the syringe and Vita Chem locally, if not here is what I used:

The second is stuffing pellet food, which takes a bit of time to prepare. You have to make an incision in the ghost shrimp across his carapace (I use a razer blade), remove his stomach and organs, easiest is using the syringe to "blast" them out with a stream of water, than stuffing them with small pellet food. I use Marine -S- from Hikari, I picked it up at PetSmart for $5.

I switch off between the two and have started cutting half of the ghost shrimp's pleon (tail) off and inserting the feeding stick.

It's important that your lion associates you with food. When I got mine he was a bit smaller than 1.5 inches and was absolutely terrified of me. After about a month and a half, he's grown half an inch and begs for food anytime I'm in the room now, which is very entertaining for guests.

mine seems to be begging, he doesnt look at me, more at the surface were the food comes from.

How many stuffed ones per day do you think? I fed him 2 stuffed ones, a dead one and a two live ones today, is this too much?

If the ghost shrimp are about 1.5" then 2 or 3 stuffed ones every two days should be okay. You'll want to back off the feedings to 2 or 3 times a week once he moves to prepared foods though.

ok. I feed my trigger 3 times a day, so how do i prevent the lion from eating what i give the trigger??

off topic here, but i figured since i already have this thread, i might as well keep it here.

My niger trigger loves to eat, obviously i can over feed, but is it bad to feed 4-5 times a day? Usually the feedings are small, like half a cube of brine shrimp, or a quarter of a cube of frozen formula one, or one full sized krill soaked in garlic etc etc. But believe it or not, the food he goes the most crazy for, is the FLAKES! He loves them, he swims right to the surface and attacks them like he hasnt eaten in weeks, and i find it very hard to not give him a little pinch every other time i enter the room. Is this bad? And is it less nutritious for me to feed him flakes more than his frozen foods?

The more he eats the more he'll poop. Some fish need to eat a few times a day but I don't believe a trigger is one of them. A 1/2 cube is a lot of food by the way, how big is the grigger? I'd personally cut down on the feedings and give him a variety in his diet which you seem to be doing.

trigger is about 4 inches, the half a cube really isnt all that much, only because it breaks up, and the 2 damsels (that were supposed to be feeders) eat it too.

He has shown some growth in the 2 or 3 months that i have had him though, which means im doing something right, right? lol.

did not no that, most of the time i dont even let it thaw to much. Thanks for the info. How do you go about doing this? Let it thaw for a few minutes then rinse it off in tap water?

Thanks.
