ramshorn over-poplulation

My ramshorns only get around dime sized- why don't you like them? They don't get as out of control as pond snails. They are fun little guys to watch. :)

well, i heard that they eat plants... and, I dont like little snails:o:D

What kind of Ramshorn? Could you supply a pic possibly?

Common Ramshorns are one of the most plant freindly creatures in you can own. They can reproduce without a mate and will reproduce very quickly if food is available, but as CDawson pointed out. Tank maintenance will control them quite nicely.

Columbian or other large ramshorns will eat your plants, to some degree or another. As will apple snails. these larger snails don't usually reproduce without a pair though.

MTS's are also plant freindly, but reproduce much slower than pond snails and Comon Ramshorns. They are also much slower to clean up things but they will survive in tanks with fish that are known snail killers.

The plant-eating habits would depend on the type of ramshorn snail that you have, as the post says.

Just wanted to send that your way.

Also, just wanted to say, that type of cat seems to be popular... I've seen that at the website of Home Depot for a cat door, I currently own a male (although I don't know what type it is). I like the avatar. It looks exactly like him.

thanks:D
well, smokey (the cat) is even cuter at home:D lol

I have some brown ramshorns almost the size of a nickel, though most are smaller.
Several yoyo loaches would make short work of the snails, though it would be easier just to take them out or crush them by hand before they become well-established.

Another question, say if someone were to have too many snails, couldn't they be passed onto somebody with fish that will eat the snails? Seems like a wonderful dietary supplement for snail-eating fish, like loaches.
