So, I am in high school and we can use our computers at school. The only problem, is that in the past week websense has been ramped up so much that all of the websites that I like to visit to pass the time have been blocked. Basically, EVERYTHING the least bit entertaining has been blocked. :duh::duh::duh::duh::duh::duh:

School isn't for entertainment it is for learning, I agree with the schools stance.
Yep, I have to agree with you. :iagree:

I just can't feel sorry for you, you are in school...IMO the ONLY sites you should be able to access during school, are educational, class related sites.

I see, so then Aquaria Central should be blocked. Much to entertaining :D

My school did the same thing, but most kids can just use a proxy to break through it. They aren't teaching us to be responsible, but rather, how to crack the coding for a security and do whatever we want lol. Half the fun of using school comps for random stuff is bushing the boundaries and seeing what you can make happen. It's like a war between student and school: Student hacks comp, school gets better security, student hacks that... and so on. Pretty soon these kids will be all around hackers :)

Honestly though, if a school gives it's students internet access, they should expect them to try and push the boundaries of it. It's what we're best at.

Quit crying and get back to work.

@Fishfriend1 They blocked proxies too.

@everyone else It's not like I'm going on any illegal sites. I only get on the sites to pass study hall, too.

Do they have anti-cell phone rules?

As for proxies, try googling "free proxy a day" it's a google site so it shouldn't be blocked. Usually one or two of those work for me.

It can be very frustrating, I'm sure. Many workplaces have similar limits. Mine does, and I am very frustrated by it, but then, I am not paid by the hour, either.

Speaking from the "other" side of the desk, I can' tell you how many students turn in sub-quality assignments due to "internet free time," which should be spent on work. It is their responsibility, and teachers should preserve a student's "right to fail" if he/she can't control use of internet time. The ability to manage time and resources is an important skill. It's a good lesson for the future, but an expensive one.

Is it a safety/legal issue at your school? Sometimes recreational sites can pose a threat to an underprotected student network. I've seen it happen, sadly.

Well, AC issss educational :D....seriously, I'm sure if I were able to in school I would of done exactly the same thing, as would just about everyone else. BUT I can not feel sorry for a child in school complaining they can't use the internet for entertainment.

@Fishfriend1 They blocked proxies too.

I didn't think you were, and wasn't meaning that...the point is you are in school, you can't really complain about not being able to do what you want....and yes, I'm sure as I stated above to FF I would of done the same, from a adult view though Study hall= studying.

What I hate most is how many sites are blocked because of the advertising on them.
