the angel fish dont seemed to be botherd but if you all think i should then that fine with me.... thanks for the input everyone this is gives me the information needed to get my tanks all perfect. and what not.

i like the tank. dont like the guys inside. angels and jd's arent a very good mix, plus jds grow really big for that tank. i would go with straight angels and a pleco, or just cons. too much aggression. more plants would help too, real or fake.

hmmm so i sould remove the angel fish and keyhole? will tese 3 do fine in a 40 gallon with 2 nanos? my nanos can be a tad aggresive... but not usually

I think your tank looks nice!!!! If it was my tank, the only thing I would do differently in terms of decor is add more tall rocks. The tall rock on the right looks good. Adding more tall rocks will give your aquarium some height (visually).

Nanos??
I am not familiar with these.. so I would not be confident in a suggestion re angels.
however you have 3 which would be fine in a 40 with the keyhole.
consider tho more vertical structure and plants.

2 convicts one 3in one 4in - aggressive when breeding and anytime they feel like it. a definite threat to the angelfish, redpoints, and keyhole. a potential threat to the jacks as well

2 angel fish 4in - not appropriate with convicts or jacks

2 jacks one 3in one 4in - get large, a 55g is barely enough for two (if they always get along) even without the other fish. when larger will kill angels, keyhole, maybe redpoints, will fight constantly with convicts

2 red points one 2in one 3in - same as angels. also, will interbreed with convicts, giving you worthless 'mutts' that should not be released into the hobby. mixing them with convicts is a waste of money and pure bloodlines.

1 key hole 3in - same as angels. this is a peaceful cichlid that should not be forced to defend itself against the more aggressive fish in the tank

1 pleco not sure what kind 4in - looks like a common type. since you don't know what it is, then i am 100% sure it's a common type. will get anywhere from 10-24 inches long, and does not belong in a 55

overall, the tank is extremely over- and inappropriately stocked. either keep the two jd's and keep your fingers crossed that they continue to get along, or keep the angels, redpoints, and keyhole.
.

yes the convicts have spawned and currently have fry, i under stand what your all saying but the convicts get there own 40 gallon in a week when my EBJD comes in because the show case 55 will become my breeding project tank. the keyhole is stressed out i under stand this im trying to rehome him but all my oher tanks have aggresive cichlids, jacks, texas, convicts, this is the nly set up where hes not torn up yet. i plan on giving him to my work as a gift.

Sounds good.

I think they would be fine without the JD .. maybe not..
They are a higher level species that the rest.

Still the Nanos are much less aggressive than Convicts in most cases as well as the other agressive fish like the HRP's and JD.

Asthetically I think you would be more pleased if you did a few things to your already nice looking tank ;)

I am not a pro but simple suggestinos that were given to me I think will apply here and help you enjoy your tank more ;)

So asthetically speaking :D :

>Move the bubbler tubing to a corner it hides better over the silicone seal.

>your heater is submersible. Drop it on it’s side and push it below some of the levels of the décor to hide it. Or hide it like your filter over behind the drift wood and make sure the top of the heater is bleow the top or the drift wood ;)

>Remove the thermometer period ;) As long as it is handy you can check the temp. That thermometer floats so you can kill two birds with one stone.. when you are concerned about temp drop it in for 5 minutes and when you see everything is normal you can pull it out.

>Decide if the Cleithracara is worth keeping and if so.. then find out who is pushing it up in the corner and take em out ;) OR… Add another piece of décor that is tall and hollow for it to hide .. It is always frustrating to see the weaker fish stuck up top.. I hate it in my tanks too..It looks like your Cons have one side and the HRP’s have the other leaving him no where to roost.. As he is the less aggressive by far species.. And would do much better in a mild cichlid tank with less aggressive mates ;)

Hust a few simple things that were told to me that really make a difference with LITTLE effort :)

very nice tank i wish i could make mine look that good. your pleco looks the same as mine exept mine is 12 inch and growing lol

Well, your stocking has been thouroughly discussed by others as well as you & I. As far as the tank, adding more, taller decor/plants would look great and would be good for the angels as well. Looks like a good start tho - keep up the good work. :)
