Rcs keep dying!?

I have not had any other shrimp be burried but im guessing with weekly water changes that may help them more

I keep my water at 78F with a 6.4 pH. Although a bit acidic, I add bits of coral, egg shells, or pH UP. I would not be overly stressed about the pH as I would about the nitrates. 40 is the upper limit tolerated by most freshwater species and 80 is toxic. between 40 and 80 you may have a few deaths or sick stock. Change as much water as needed to get the Nitrates below 40. Aim for about 10-20. Remember that the smaller the tank, the small changes will have more major effect on the water and stock.

Don't stress over the % of water that you change, change as much water and as often as needed to keep the water in the safe zone.

Or just move all of them into a 10 gallon tank. My breeding tank (200+) with a tds of 640ppm and at 6.5 ph. They are pretty bullet proof shrimp as long as you don't have crazy flucuations. And yes I did a few water changes after the tds reading!

If you use tap water for water changes, use a good conditioner, and let the water age (sit in buckets or tubs), for a day.

I have something that I think is worth mentioning, concerning water temperature fluctuations. Does your tank receive direct sunlight at any time? If so, move it, or put a barrier between the tank and the window.

It does not receive any direct sunlight during the day but I have started using filtered tap water instead of straight tap water but still use the water conditioner

Update: I have done 3 water changes since this post my new readings are

PH-7 (down from 8.5)
alkalinity-300 (no change)
hardness-75 (down from 150)
nitrite-0 (no change)
nitrate-20 (down from 40-80)
temp constant 78 (I bought a small heater and took off the plastic top which helped with the heat)

But still no berried rcs?

Also there is some sort of algae that grows on the side of the tank I scrub it off and in 2 days its back on the sides it has a greenish tinge to it but the rcs seem to feed off it good or bad?
