Red Stocking

I'm downsizing to a 10 gallon planted tank. The only "must" for stocking is a small school of cardinal tetras (approximately 7 of them), a red brigs snail, and a few cherry shrimp.

I'd like a "centerpiece" fish that looks good with the cardinals, so something red or neon blue is in order. Possibilities I've thought of:

* 1 red male betta
* 2 red dward platties - do they come in red or only orange?
* 1 powder blue dwarf gourami - I'm concerned about getting one that's of good quality, though.

Any other ideas?

Last I check, there isn't a red mystery snail.

The betta could end up being a easy target for fin-nipping by the tetras. It might tear apart the shrimp as well. There are some red platies, but they seem a bit uncommon. I've seen them advertised as "blood red platies". The orange ones are quite common though.

Red/burgundy/maroon. They look pretty red to me.

Huh. I've never seen a cardinal tetra nip at anything, and I've kept them for over 34 years.

No ideas for red fish?

Thanks, mgamer. That's the best looking apisto I've ever seen.

Not sure if platies get red enough...they always seem more orange to me.

I may break down and get the old standby 10 gallon stocking: honey gourami, cardinal tetras, shrimp & snails.
