i finaly have a new tank! yay me! i'll be getting it tomorrow and making the stand for it. its l4ftxh3ftxw2ft. for filtration i was planing on getting a 2ft tank to use as a sump/refurgium what kind of plants and fish are used in these. and any tips on construction.

Don't forget lights for it if you plan on having plants in it.

For a freshwater system, you don't really put fish and plants in the sump. Think of it as an overblown mechanical/biological/chemical filtration plant, with bacteria forming the living component. Now if you have light over your refugium, you could, in theory, put some plants in there to help soak up excess nutrients in the water. This might help reduce algae and keep your water quality good. Look for something fast growing, lives well as a floater, and low care requirements. Umm.. duckweed leaps to mind, but I'm sure there are better choices.
