If this is in the wrong section feel free to move.

I received a 12g eclipse tank yesterday. It has some mild scratches from the contents rubbing during shipping. It's not bad enough to warrant returning it but I'd like to know if there is some product that is easy to use that would possibly fill them in.

Thanks
Scott

I do have orbital equipment and pads... was hoping to avoid that if possible.

Were talking about a 35$ tank... so I won't be spending any significant amount of money to fix it.

I was just told by my mechanic that if my headlight covers got scratched and hazy to take some old school crest toothpaste and a rag to buff out the scratches. Now I haven't tried it but I I have a 55 gallon that will be my experiment as soon as I dig it out of the shop next week.

you can always look and see what they sell at auto window repair and replace shops. My friends old man works at one, and the sell stuff that can fill cracks, rock chips etc, with no damage, like it never happened!

they make polishes for plastic, acrylics etc.. you can find them at auto parts stores.

I use them on visors for my MC helmets ..

buffing or polishing the idea is to knock down the edge of the scratch...you don't always remove the scratch. just lessen the visible lines

I'm heading over to novus to pick up their kit..... The guy I just talked to seemed confident that it would do what I needed and that he had some samples of the product I could try prior to purchasing.

These scratches are very mild... I'm just "picky". I'll post up how it works.

Thanks

I used my orbital with some rubbing compound designed for cars on my old tank, and removed most of the swirl marks that way.

Crest will work
Google micro mark or micro mart they sell all kinds of stuff to make things shine
