I don't suppose many aquarists will go to the trouble of putting one of these together. But I had to see if this system in Vietnam really worked.
The first video clip shows it doesn't.
After enlarging their picture I noticed the feeding hatches are built on a line with the water in the 2 holding tanks. The glass from the tunnel extends below the water level of the holding holding tanks. So what they have produced is a very clever "optical illusion" as far as the water being held in place by the vacuum sustaining the water level in the overhead tunnel.
Not really suitable for home aquarium systems.
But I got to build another tunnel and learn more about construction techniques.Made the lower tank from "safety glass".2 sections of glass with a laminate of clear plastic in the center. You need to score the glass on both sides to make a clean cut.
I also found that that the 6mm glass used for the tunnel [15cm square] is very often thrown out by glaziers as off-cuts from windows too small for commercial use.
