Rummy nose tetras???

I kept some a while back and they are great schoolers and very attractive. One of my favorite tetras. They are sensitive, but they make a great addition to a tank. Just make sure you don't have any big fish that might mistake them for a snack! I actually had a Bosemani Rainbow that ate a couple of mine before I ended up taking him back to my LFS. I remember coming home one day and being shocked at the sight of a Rummynose tail sticking out of the Bosemani's mouth.
i have a golden gourami, and a sailfin molly, a zig zag yellow tail eel (about 5 inches long). Are these TOO big???

I just got 13 rummies last night, all of them completely greyed out but I acclimated them very slowly and carefully. I woke up today and they were all swimming around together with noses glowing a deep crimson red! Now I just need to pray that they all make it through. I am also treating my tank with prime for the next few days as I made the newbie mistake of introducing 13 fish at one time! I think the plants will suck up any extra ammonia though.

I have had rummynose tetras for 3 yers now & I agree that it's hard to find good ones, & when you don't they dir easily, but when you do & they acclimate they are hardy lil monsters & red up very intensely!

The closest reputable dealer is about an hour from my home...would that be too long of a trip for rummies?
It should be a problem but if worried, could use Battery Operated Air Pump to aerate.
All the rummys are still wild specimen as far as I know, a reason why it is hard to find good batches, but observing Intense Red nose/forehead is an indication of well ajusted batch, well, usually. Since wild fish, Q/T is also a good idea. They are prettier in numbers so try to have as many as possible.

would a 3-4 inch male golden gourami, and a six inch eel be a problem for these fish. both the fish are peaceful, and the gourami chases but has not nipped at anyone yet.

thanks.

I can't speak on the eel, never had one. But I have a 75g community tank with about 14 runnynose along with various Rainbows (including Boesemi which that earlier post really surprised me, those rummynose must have been very young) a adult Pearl gourami and some neon tetras with absolutely no problems.

Take the advise of a slow introduction to your tank and when done you'll be happy to have a great schooling fish.

I've got twenty of these in a 55 with 6 rainbows, including bosemani, and herbert axelrodi. No problems for over 6 months. Am going to put them in a 150 with an additional 50 (70 total). I love these little guys and they are hardy. Never lost one. Red nosed as can be. Most common variety that I have seen is the Bleheri. Red goes past the gills. I actually like them the best of the three possibilities. Good luck.
