saltwater viv construction log

thanks for the kind words:perv:
to answer mellowvisions question- yes and I think I know why you ask..
the salinity is going to be difficult to maintain because its such a small amount of water with alot of surface area for evaporation, plus the freshwater runoff from watering the plants. I dont think this will be a huge issue with the hardy creatures I will be putting in there though because they will all come from the intertidal area, and I plan on doing 100% water changes weekly.
My biggest concern is that the crab will destroy the tank by ripping up the plants and tearing apart the tufa(they have super strength).

looks great! What sort of Turfa recipe did you use and did you mold it by hand?

ta:)
I used 1 part portland cement, 1 part pumice'y sand and two parts peat.
I used this mix because its the simplest + I already had the sand.
and yes I molded it by hand, then after it had cured for about a week I scratched it with a toothpick to rough it up

disaster has struck:wall:
I was an idiot to use epoxy glue to stick the foam partition to the glass.
epoxy glue does not stick to glass for long:wall:
now I have to tear out the false bottom and silicon the crap out of the land section... oh joy...
