saltwater viv construction log

corr, I havent really thought about the cost..
here are the main expenses (in NZ$:raspberry:)
tank $96
pump $30ish?(not new)
lights $36
canopy wood $9
paint $30ish
silicon $15(also used for new fishtank)
plants $10ish
misc $20?

= around $240 NZ$

the foam and epoxy I got free off my father whos working on his boat.
a lot of the materials I already had lying around.
If I couldnt get my hands on the expanding foam, I would of used polystrene which is dirt cheap. Epoxy is not cheap though. If I bought it, it would probably cost around $50 I guess.

the fauna is going to be free(cost wise:silly:)

Looking awesome!

Also, for those interested here are some conversions

240 NZ$ = approx
$192 USD
130 EUR
98 GBP

or about 13,140 Bangladesh Taka or 104,352 Rwandan Francs

well its finally a saltwater vivarium!
I collected some sea water, sand and a few wee critters to cycle the system.
I got 3 pistol shrimp(noisy buggers but they look cool), a few small crabs, and a number of other strange little things. When the tank is settled down I will put in a bigger crab.

I got some different mosses

I dont expect them all to thrive, I just hope that the moss on the left by the fern does well.

I put a mangrove seedling above the waterfall but I dont expect it to do very well.

the only sea creature I could get a decent pic of

everything else is either hiding, too active, or too small to photograph

yellow light gets a lot of hate in these forums but I like the look of it in this tank.

Well thats pretty much it, Im pretty happy with how it turned out, I wanted to make a 'rockpool in the bush' tank, and I think I achived it.
If I were to do it again the only thing I would do differently would be to make the water area deeper.
Updates when I make the hood and vinefy the pump cord..
:naughty:

that looks like a nem, I would be worried about it thriving or not. keep a close eye on it! LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE the tank!
