salty420's 75g reef log

thanks for the comments everyone! the upgrade is almost complete as of today. everything is now moved over except my little nassarius snails and whatever bristle worms and critters that are in my old LS. i did get bunches of mini brittle stars over but i know there are still tons of them in the 37 as well. the plan for tomorrow is: scrape the coraline off the 37g tank walls, syphon down the 37g, do a WC on the 75g changing out the water with the water from the 37g coraline and all. i was told by my lfs that doing that would cause a coraline bloom really fast. it will be interesting to see if it works! then i'll scoop out the top layer of LS and put it into the 'fuge hopefully getting the nass snails and bristle worms out. along with them i guess will come all the nasty nasty filth that has settled :(
well anyway, to the good stuff - the pics! i really need a new camera but all my money has mysteriously disappeared...
here's the fts from tonight, i just had the HQI's on for a couple hours tonight. i was surprised that the corals came out a bit, i thought they would be too freaked out...

the nem is looking pretty sad tonight but it still hasn't moved, and it did eat so that's good. we adjusted it's rock a bit as we realized we had buried one of the hawaiian feather dusters! it's on the back side now...
the fish are all looking great! the clowns even ventured about 10 inches from the nem today! i did have to uncover the koralia's as the mesh was blocking too much flow but i'll probably cover them for overnight again just in case...

Wow the setup is really looking great. I can't wait to beableto start putting stuff in our 75. Keep it up and keep posting pictures.

Looking AWESOME salty.. Loving the pictures.

Looks great!

If I tried to do my rock like that, though, I don't think it'd last too long. Stuff always gets moved around in my tank.

well another night and half a day has passed and the nem still hasn't left it's rock. if anyone remembers this is the nem that started getting sucked up in my MJ and never let go of it's rock. im happy that it isn't moving, i like it where it is. well anyway, today i scraped the 37g a bit and sucked up the coraline and did a WC of about 5g of that coraline infused water into the 75g. i didn't bother changing out the rest of the water from the 37g as i had originally planned. i kinda figured why bother, the 75g is looking so great and the 37g water was looking so dirty. i did take the top layer of sand from the 37g tho (reluctantly) and put it into the fuge. now the fuge looks freaking nasty. it looks like a room after a fire, but instead of soot covering everything it's nasty nasty poop. the macro algae is covered in filth. the huge piece of LR that's in there is covered in filth. it's poopville in there, i don't know what to do..? the good news is i was able to save a TON of micro brittle stars and many bristle worms as well. i know i didn't get them all (sorry little guys) but i did as best as i could. now im in the process of cleaning up the 37g. not sure what will become of that tank now...

salty nice looking tank, how the corals like the hqi? keep us updated as i'm sure this will be an amazing looking tank, like it isn't now:grinyes:
