Sand - Cloudy Water

For my fish stocking, 2 Clowns and a Yellow Tailed Damsel is what i would like - this ok for a 20 gallon? I guess 3 is my limit, 4 may be pushing it? Would those fish get on okay together?

Yes, your clean up sounds fine to me. On the fish, i would personaly choose a goby, rather than a damsel...

Some sort of snail? its only about 3/4 of a cm. Looks like a shell with a red tip stuck sideways on to the rock.. hasn't moved yet so maybe just a shell but it is sideways floating.


Looks like a Turbo snail too me...good hitch-hiker...

This just looks weird, maybe something, or maybe just a root from an old coral or something? Not sure.


Cant really make out much of it...Is it hard, soft? does it move when touched?

Are these anything living? :)

Lol well the second one seems to be opening in the middle on the left.. will have to wait and see - i'll try touching it tonight see how it feels. May be a potato chip u never know :D

Yeh - I thought an Astraea tecta (conehead snail) Turbo Snail after looking at piccys on Google. Not sure why its red tipped though. It wasn't moving at all, seemed tipped - i read you should upright them if stuck.

I picked it up, and it for sure had a snail inside. I've righted it but it hasn't moved at all for 12 hours so im guessing it didn't survive the overnight shipping - shame.

Thanks for the Gobby suggestion :) My daughter reallys like the yellow tailed damsels.. Would the gobby be better cause it would be lower in the tank, with the clowns in the middle? Or because the Clowns/Damsel would fight - they are both aggresive right?

The second pic could be a clam if its hard, or put it down to a sponge if its soft..

The turbo may only just be an empty shell which come in with the live rock..the red is probably just coralline algae built up on it..

I suggested the goby due to agression in that size of tank...

I agree with getting a goby. They have great personalities as well. On the snail not moving, you can always pick it up and do the sniff test. You'll know for certain it is dead, even without ever having done it before. It could be fine, snails often stay in a resting period for long chunks of time.
 
It's so cool to see an empty tank with live rock just immersed! My tank is almost 1 year old, but when I look at your brand new tank I am envious of the journey your about to take.

Well I think the snail was dead or empty - didn't really smell of anything but looking again, seems empty, ah well.

That 2nd pic thing is hard, it didn't do anything when I touched it.. maybe a clam hopefully it survived the transport.

So today was my 2nd day in to Cycle. Didn't check levels on 1st day, but I did check them before I added Live Rock/Shrimp and they are below:

2nd Day in to Cycle and my levels look like this:

PH seems a little low, not sure why it would have gone down - I have a powerhead pointed at the surface. NitrITE's are sky high (maxed out on the chart) whereas Ammonia isn't very high at all... seem ok?

I would not worry about the pH for now to be honest..numbers look fine so far. Just have to keep monitoring it...What did you use as the ammonia source?
